The beginning: Don Allen (Republican), with Jamar Nelson (Democrat)
Join host Jamar Nelson on iHeartRadio’s Black Republican, Black Democrat Show on Twin Cities News Talk AM 1130, FM 103.5 at 6:00PM CST tonight.

Host Jamar Nelson and Patwin Lawrence (on assignment), welcome back former co-host and friend of the show Don Allen (Independent Conservative), as he talks with the old crew about governor Mark Dayton’s new appointments for the Professional Educators Licensing Board, which do not include any Black Americans born in Minnesota.

Allen wrote in a heated missive titled, "A message from Don Allen, M.A. Ed./MAT" - (4.0 GPA)/ Dual Masters (2), Hamline University (MN’s First University)/Teacher – Communications Arts/Lit 5-12. Candidate: Doctorate in Education-University of St. Thomas.

Don Allen, M.A. Ed./MAT on the set of Murder Calls for ID Discovery Telvision
“Am I wronging to question a surreptitious board of Teaching in Minnesota process that picked a group of Minnesotans that did not include any American-born Minnesotans from the state? How will this board me culturally relevant and/or responsive?  What about the endless machine of testing for new teachers that is set up and mandated for European Americans; should I not question the validity and process sans the adults (black males/females; native American male/females) of the children that are doing the worst failing in school K-12? You cannot do ANY problem-solving. I’m sorry, but on this date and time (2017), this happens too repeatedly not to be the cleverest of #Minnesota #Nice; #racisminMN.”

Allen says, “it’s not the new board members fault in the least, it’s the process from which they were picked. In Minnesota, people in positions to pick and choose, think they are closer to “blackness” by ignoring black Americans in favor of Africans in America to satisfy some sort of guilt, but in the end, it is our children, descendants of slaves who are once again, left out by a political process that favors the governors political party ideology.”

The Ron and Don Show hosts Town Hall Meeting with MN SD-59 Candidates plus more (Wed. 8:30pm)

We don’t hear much about the investigation on the killing of the two-year-old child in north Minneapolis; it seems the attention is focused on the police shooting of a black man. When we ignore what’s happening to our children, we ignore the importance of liberty, justice and freedom. Local community “hacktivist” have their priorities all mixed up…Ron and Don are here to put them back on track. Tune to in, click here or copy and paste this link in your favorite browser:http://www.blogtalkradio.com/theronanddonshow/2016/08/04/the-ron-and-don-show-hosts-town-hall-meeting-with-mn-sd-59-candidates-plus-more

(Note: Senator Bobby Joe Champion has not answered request to appear – much like the work he does in the community.)

Tune in on Wednesday, August 3 at 8:30 p.m. for the award-winning program The Ron and Don Show hosted by civil rights activist and historical Ronald A. Edwards and publisher and founder of the Independent Business News Networks Don Allen.

On Wednesday’s program the team bring you two of the three candidates running against incumbent Bobby Joe Champion for the senate seat in SD-59.

About Jennifer Carnahan
Jennifer Carnahan spent 15 years climbing the corporate ladder at some of the top Fortune 500 companies, including General Mills, McDonald’s and Ecolab. Despite her success, Carnahan said, she needed more style in her life. Last year, the business executive left the security of her office job to pursue a dream of opening a clothing boutique in northeast Minneapolis. Primrose Park debuted in October, and while Carnahan, 38, has achieved her long-held goal, it hasn’t been easy. On days when the cash register hardly opens, she is reminded of her personal motto, displayed on the walls of the cozy store: “Dream Big. Be Happy” (Blanchette, Star Tribune, 2015).  (Read more about Jennifer here.)

About Patwin Lawrence
Lawrence, 39, is a native of South Carolina who has lived in the Twin Cities for over 13 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in 1998. He was a co-founder and former director of TORCH Community, former Minneapolis Urban League board member, and he was appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton in 2011 to the Council on Black Minnesotans’ board of directors where he served three years of his four-year term as board chair. “The residents of Senate District 59 can no longer afford to have leadership at any level focused on bringing benefits to a few nor continued failure to take substantive action on viable solutions which would effectively reduce disparities plaguing the district and the state.” (Read more about Patwin Lawrence here.)

Both Carnahan and Lawrence are aware of the current deliberations to resolve disparities, there are some good solutions, but believes most are cosmetic. Lawrence states, “There is a systemic problem with our legislative operations. This is why certain segments of Minnesota sound like a broken record.” Carnahan replied, “Voters are tired of being asked to support incumbent’s election cycle after election cycle for nothing substantive in return. Issues are not being sufficiently addressed even though both the legislature and executive branches have been repeatedly advised on the matter.”

Both agree that solutions should be community driven, the community dictating to their public servants what the solutions should be, not dictated by the public servants and especially not from the “few” who expect to benefit monetarily.

Jennifer Carnahan steps forward to challenge incumbent senator Bobby Joe “No Show” Champion

Editor’s note: Senate District 59 has been represented by an incumbent senator who believes that helping a few friends to gain access to funding is better than collectively working with the whole community.  Related stories: School board's approval of $375,000 contract for Al Flowers-related group drawing questions; Minneapolis schools seek to end contract with achievement gap group; OPEN LETTER REGARDING THE BREAKDOWN OF EDUCATION LEADERSHIP IN MINNEAPOLIS

Today another contender has entered the race; meet Jennifer: corporate executive, business owner and today challenging the incumbent senator from north Minneapolis Bobby Joe Champion.  Jennifer joins the ever popular social media, print and door knocking DFL candidate Patwin Lawrence who has broken records in the number of community following him on his campaign Facebook page.

Jennifer Carnahan, a Minnesota native, is a strong believer in the American Dream.  Adopted from South Korea in 1977, Carnahan's parents - John and Cindra - taught her if she could dream it, she could live it.  And since she was a young girl, Jennifer has been chasing her dreams.

Minnesota: SD 59 candidate Patwin Lawrence challenges incumbent to Community Forum

Editor's note: At this posting, senate district incumbent Senator Bobby Joe Champion as refused to contact groups attempting to set up a community forum with the SD 59 candidates. Patwin Lawrence is prepared go public with what could be some serious concerns about  Senator Champion's tenure in the Minnesota Senate.

Minneapolis, Minn. – Sen. Champion has denied his constituency an opportunity to participate in the political process in the upcoming August 9th primary. Patwin Lawrence who is challenging Sen. Champion in the August primary requested several times this week to have a debate/candidate forum with the incumbent.

On last Wednesday, SD59 Chair Jeff Strand, in an email communication with Mr. Lawrence, declined the idea of a debate/candidate forum. Lawrence gave Champion till 5pm on Friday, July 22 to make a decision whether he would support or deny his constituents the opportunity to have a debate/forum.

This type of behavior is not surprising, but typical of Sen. Champion. In May, Sen. Champion agreed to have a community meeting with North Minneapolis constituents questioning the $35 million appropriated to various non-profits in the recent legislative session. The meeting has not been scheduled.

An important piece of Lawrence’s platform is if he is elected to the state senate, he will have town hall meetings around the district before each legislative session to collate constituency ideas and craft a community driven legislative agenda to take to St. Paul. He would also regularly meet with constituency, especially at their request.
